Make no mistake – if you want to succeed at your muscle building goals then long term consistency is absolutely key.⁣

This isn’t an excuse to skip workouts when you have no legitimate reason to do so.⁣

However, if you ARE staying relatively consistent in the overall picture, then taking short term breaks here and there really isn’t something to stress out over.⁣

Whether it’s due to injury, illness, a personal issue or whatever else, this is totally normal and happens to everyone at some point.⁣

It takes about two full weeks of inactivity for actual muscle loss to start kicking in, and even then it’s a relatively slow process after that.⁣

And once you do return to the gym, you’ll recoup any potential losses at a fairly quick pace due to the effects of muscle memory.⁣

So, train hard and stay as consistent as you can…⁣

But when those inevitable situations pop up that force you to take some time off, just take it in stride as part of the overall process and get back on track as soon as you reasonably can.⁣

if you cant train your body because of an injury, still do what you can do without causing pain. Like if your arm is broken, try to do some activity like go for long walks or something. Muscle loss is very fast if you spend too much time on your couch for example.

  5. Training for almost 9 years and during COVID-19 I had a full 3 months off, never had more than a week and you know what……I just didn't have a pump that was it.

  6. Mira Bronx says:

Thanks so much this is really helpful

  7. Alex D says:

I once had to stop training for a full year due to injury from an accident. I kept eating well, didn’t let myself go and went walking frequently (the only exercise I was able to do). I lost a lot of muscle and obviously gained some fat, but when I finally returned to the gym, I surprisingly got all off my strength back within a month. The muscle gain followed not long afterwards. A proper diet + muscle memory will get you back on track in no time, so don’t sweat it if you’re out for some time, kings 💪

  8. I've been working out for a year and 4 months roughly and guys I purposely take a week off every couple months. This helps refresh my mental. Helps my body fully recover and reset. And every single time. I come back hungry and break crazy pr's when I come back. I personally feel it's a must!

  13. Thomas Mason says:

I was worried when I became ill that I would lose all my gains, 3 weeks off and I didn’t notice much of a difference so it out my mind at rest 🙂

  14. victor brito says:

Got COVID. This is good to hear.

  15. Also if you are someone that goes to the gym for 6 times a week then pausing a week will allow your muscles to recover and help with the soreness if you have any.

  16. Due to an injury, I had a 3 month gym brake. Does that hurt my gains?

  17. Jaggo says:

Wow thanks. I really needed this video today. I started working out regularly not too long ago. I also do shift work and as of right now I can't go to the gym today because I am still sore. Won't be able to go for the next three days either… So this Video came right when I needed it!

  18. Arushi Das says:

Thank you…. definitely my mind is at rest

  22. Totally true I couldent train for a month legs becouse a foot burnd and in one week and a half I had the same strength and really didnt see any muscle lost

  23. Nori says:

Thank you. About. 2 days ago I slept on my leg and when I woke up it hurt like shit. And today it's fully healed but for some goddamn reason I'm really dizzy got a cough and a sore throat. Im really afraid of gaining fat and losing muscle

  24. Maui says:

How long does this muscle memory last?

  25. That's for losing muscle, but you become weaker after just days of not training
