First of all, I can tell from just looking at her that Dakota Johnson is JEWISH by blood, not an English of Germanic tribes. And she converted to Scientologist in Hollywood. Both her parents and grandmother are actors, PURE NEPOTISM.
If you're expecting to see some Anglo-Saxons up in here, you'll be sorry. Female lead is Jewish, everyone else is Black, Asian, or heavily mixed. No Germanic tribes at all. They ridiculed the Anglos…and the Black and Asian people were used to be clowns. We couldn't stop laughing during this movie, laughing out loud, red in the face laughter.
Persuasiin is a beloved novel so
I read all the comments before deciding to say anything.
If I ever get the chance to see this movie I will then I can make up my own mind about this adaptation.
If
सुवर no 😁
This is the pure abuse of the Austin's heritage. My eyes are bleeding. 🤮🧻🚽
did you even look for history at school? What aristocrats among blacks in England of that era? 🤔
I didn't want it to end, this needs to be a series. Too short for a movie. 3 seasons would be amazing. The actors were phenomenal. Well done guys.
I didn’t like Dakota’s performance. I felt it was kinda tiring or something. I dunno. I can just say I didn’t watch the full movie. But that’s only my experience and opinion.
Bad acting
Not as good as 2006 version
I am reading this book for the first time. I haven't seen the film before. But I knew there was a film version. Out of curiosity, I googled the individual characters. And when I saw Lady Russell like in this film: I just thought NOOO
This is way too far from Persuasion! I would definitely mistake this for something else if it were not for the title. And the woman in the teaser is certainly not Anne Elliot! Persuasion deserves more.
Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of ethnic equality but the British and Americans were busy earning money from slavery rather than treating people as equals! The wine glass or should I say wine bottle? What a scandal that would have been for any women in English society! This is more of a parody of Jane Austin’s Persuasion and the American producer has no idea of British gentry in that time period . An absolute failure as a Jane Austen reproduction with an ugly hero who wears workhouse clothes! Missed the point here I’m afraid! Dreadful!
You can modernize a classic without losing too much of its original scent like 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice, this one however, is just a bad, terrible attempt which someone will probably call it ridiculous as it competes for the worst Austen re-adaptation. I'll probably watch it one time just for the laughs.
no
Well since I'm not a book reader I find it quite lovely lol I love Jayne Eyre, Titanic and these sorts.
I never saw Pride and Prejudice..I should
It was really good
God Dakota Johnson is such a crap actress.
No m4men un chino en la época victoriana jejej
Woke woke woke.
Black and asian actors playing characters based on a Jane Austen story….
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Cancelled my Netflix…how dare they???
Really? We now go with black gentleman in English country in the 18th century?
I was originally attracted to watching the movie via Dakota great acting. Although the story and movie are great and fun watching, I am intrigued by Dakota acting skills and like what aging has done for her. I guess having the genes of actors paid off. If you just end up watching her acting, it’s worth it. But in the end, all of the actors and the movie I are great. SpacestationArk
Is her love interest supposed to be ugly?
This was by far the WORST adaptation I have ever seen. The 2007 adaptation is still the best and can not be defeated apparently. WHAT a disappointment.
Воу, сколько этнического толерантного разнообразия в историческом кино)). Не хватает ещё геев и трансгендеров – не доработали сюжет. ))
I loved this movie. It was funny and heartbreaking and sweet.
There was nothing about Wentworth that made me root for them to get back together 😴
Just recently finished watching this "movie" and have found it a waste of time. A great insult to Jane Austen in every sense since in the beginning of the film it stated that it was "based on Jane Austen" ( only in title and some base elements are based by the book) And political "woke" storyline and cast design for a story based in the 1700's England is ludicrous.
badly done netflix, badly done indeed!
Watched the movie – sadly it is even worse than the trailer might let you on. Badly done, Netflix!
Phew I’m glad those 2 hours are over. I gave this film the benefit of the doubt and tried to watch it but (I’m really sorry for any fans out there) it was honestly awful. The only good thing was the landscapes 😅
Reasons why this film should be on the Blacklist for any real Austen lover:
1. As beautiful as Dakota is, I feel she failed completely to portray Anne. Not only was she so outspoken and sassy but I couldn’t see the pain and longing in her eyes. Is it because she’s horrible at acting or because was given a shite director I don’t know. I miss the silent resilience of Anne, her calm and quiet observation of others, the purity of her love. The fact that, though she speaks little, every word she says is so thoughtful and considerate ❤❤I love Anne and they didn’t do her justice
2. There was no meaningful connections. The only relationship that actually had chemistry was Louisa and Anne’s friendship tbh. Every other scene had to be sarcastic and comedic. And even when they tried to be dramatic, she’d say things like “we’re exes” I mean who said that in that time!! Oh gosh and even when the situation is awful and she needs to cry out from pain and agony she’d be sitting in the bath tub covering her face and cracking jokes, like why can’t you act out the pain and agony properly why?!
3. Dakota was totally mesmerised by Mr Elliot like wtf, you’re supposed to be pining over Wentworth 24/7 not be suddenly flirting with this rich guy even if he is as you put “really attractive”that honestly annoyed the shit out of me.
4. Everything was a comedy! Okay just because it’s set in a period time, not everything is funny. Why does Anne have to be so ridiculous, she was never an alcoholic! Sneaking the bottle of wine every night to her bedroom is dreadful and normalises drinking to drown out one’s feelings.
5. They missed out iconic scenes that make me go crazy! How can you do that?? 😮 how can you not show us Fredrick buying the estate for Anne? How can you not show us them together in the shop when it’s raining outside and she chooses to stay with him rather than go with the Eliot man? How can you not show us Fredrick telling Anne himself about Louisa’s engagement? How can you not show Fredrick extending his hand to help Anne into the carriage? These were iconic scenes but no they didn’t make the cut!
Shout out to all those who’re still reading! Wentworth you were decent – you made me feel your pain but I’m sorry Dakota you were always an ice block next to him. So because of you, Ice block, and the many reasons above it’s a 2/10 from me
Woke rubbish. "The Rape of Jane" would have been a more appropriate title….
Great movie. Dakota Johnson' classic acting.
I'm sorry but this period piece was a piece of 💩 . Terrible just terrible
I liked it.
