Some real wisdom coming from Rick Vaive, I like his humbleness but a spark of fire still burns.

Ontario has weird seasons compared to rest of Canada.
In rest of Canada leafs only fall off once a year. In Ontario leafs fall in spring time and fall.
Rick Vaive is my hero. When I was a kid I tried to shoot right handed to match him. I remember his bad angle slap shots as he raced down the right wing. Sheer power resulting in more than one 50 goal seasons. He’ll get a standing ovation when Matthews joins the 50 goal club!

He should go for it. The Leafs might need a historic run like that in the playoffs to make a cup run eventually. Matthews needs to be able to turn on the switch even when facing tough defensive matchups.

Dude, Matthews had 47 goals in 70 games (season cut short due to covid) and he had 41 goals in 52 games (another season cut short due to covid).
Matthews is so far beyond Vaive at this point that he's already the best Leafs goal scorer since CHARLIE CONACHER .
With all due respect to Rick Vaive, your record got broken three years ago already if not for the covid stoppage, and it got destroyed last season when Matthews was on track for 65 goals.
Rick Vaive took so much physical punishment and vicious cross checks in front of opposition Nets. He was a true warrior to go along with being a great sniper.
