George Yeo listed as character reference for Ng Kok Song
Presidential hopeful Ng Kok Song has put down former Cabinet Minister George Yeo as his character reference in his application when applying for a certificate of eligibility to stand in the upcoming Presidential Election.
He shared this on Wednesday (Aug 3) during a visit to the Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan.

Every human wants to be leader but cannot solve poverty n rich poor gaps, rich will be richer poor will be poorer thats everyone wants to be in power so that they can use their power to get more one way or another. Suggests Sir u retire peacefully with your family, unless u can guarantee those seniors not born as lucky as u have to worked in food courts n wheelchair bound seniors selling tissue paper at train stations n our hard-earned earned whole life c p f money are held for another dark ten years till we reach 65 then can be return bit by bit like taking social welfare support ,if not don waste your time n energy making promise that cannot be make .

Mr. Ng taught Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew meditation which requires a high level of trust he had in Mr. Ng. I believe Mr. Lee could be one of character references if he is still alive.
When Tharman announced (but not yet submitted his applicstion) his intention to be a candidate there was no immediate response. Then came a challenger in the form of businessman George Goh. Then came another challenger Ng Kok Song. Then came yet another challenger Tan Kin Lian. The field is getting more crowded with candidates the effect of which is the dilution and reduction of votes for both the potential favourite candidate as well as his nearest challenger. Suddenly the guarantee that Tharman would win is being threatened. He may be the idol and preferred guy of most Singaporeans to be the next prime minister a couple of years ago but he may not be their preferred guy to be president. The PM runs the country whereas the President is supposed to check how he uses the country's reserves which are different roles. This is the problem with the qualifying requirements for candidates in our presidential elections. If an ex-minister can be eligible to become a presidentoal candidate after he resigns from party affiliation it does not remove him from the system of governance of the country for which he was a part of. Firstly, there is no independence of thought, and secondly, there is a conflict of allegiance (where his loyalty should be in times of conflict – to the citizens or to his ex-boss the PM when he was minister). So, the country is back to "ownself" check "ownself" again.
Only PAP certified President will win. Time to wake up.
