A judge sentenced former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett on Thursday to 30 months felony probation, which will include 150 days in the Cook County Jail, for lying to Chicago police about a hate crime in 2019. He will also have to pay restitution to the city of Chicago in addition to the maximum $25,000 fine. “I am innocent, and I am not suicidal,” said Smollett after the judge read his sentence, continuing to deny that he staged the attack. 6. Boxy Brown says:

What an effing loser lol. His interview with Robin Roberts is a gold medal in the cringe hall of fame.

  7. And you should’ve said you were guilty a long time ago and saved a lot of time and money and most of all a lot of damage to real victims.

  8. You tell a Judge what he or she can do is ridiculous. And insulting.

  9. mahooyahoo1 says:

With him being a entertainer and shirt lifter!!!! he'll be in big demand in jail

  10. But is he suicidal? 😂

  11. diego laris says:

  12. Ronny Rono says:

If this self-serving race-baiting liar ends up not serving his jail term there is something seriously wrong with our justice system

  13. 150 years.that is what he deserves democrats are backing him

  14. Phil Brown says:

Why is this bozo not behind bars right now?

  15. He deserved a bigger fine and longer jail sentencing. They literally just smacked his hand.

  16. Kevin Healey says:

Personally I don't think he should got to prison. It made no sense to put him in prison. He's not violent.

There have been others who did horrific things and were given a free pass by the court system.

However, they're not throwing him in jail for doing something stupid.

Actually though there were four things not in his favour.

    (1) He did it. It was totally obvious and he told his lawyers he wants to go for it and pleaded not guilty.

    (2) He wanted to battle it out in court instead of working out a plea deal.

    (3) He made this brazen rampage in the court room.

    (4) His behavior in the court room looked like his was trying to enhance his acting career.

In court, he wrote, produced, and starred in his own production.

Probably the court may have had no other choice, because they wanted to show

"If someone goes in this direction, there will be consequences."

  17. Linda Miller says:

Where has he gone? He was released! Did he have to surrender his passport? If it were lowely little me I would have still been in jail!

  18. yung oxy says:

He deserved more than 150 days ..

  19. And there he goes out of the court room with fists up in the air saying I’m not suicidal with such narcissistic arrogance !

  20. Rainna says:

He is not admitting he did it. He is not the first or last to not admit guilt in the face of conviction. Hope he does not commit suicide like he said he would not. Kinda sounds like he is trying to do another set up. Wow…just wow. Even with the letters, no remorse earns him the jail time. 😕

  21. DJ HiNRG says:

This decade worst actor got vip treatment at its best. Now imagine this, white folks be like out protesting, riot, destroying and burning down buildings, looting, stopping traffics and hurting bystanders over this….of course! They won't do that sorta thing.
