Melania Trump Copies Another First Lady, Uses Jackie Kennedy as Inspiration for Inauguration Dress
Today’s Presidential inauguration has been the talk of the world. But for those more concerned with style rather than politics, Melania Trump’s outfit has been the subject of conversation as well. The first lady stepped out in a powder blue Ralph Lauren outfit that bared a striking resemblance to Jackie Kennedy’s iconic style.

Drawing some serious inspo from a similar outfit that Jackie wore to her husband’s inauguration in 1961, it’s hard to ignore the fact that these two looks are one in the same. Everyone was waiting on pins and needles to see what Melania would wear for the big day. After all, all eyes are on her! She will be photographed, broadcasted, published- and the dress will eventually make its way to the Smithsonian Museum! No big deal.

So leading up to this morning, there was some major speculation around who would dress the first lady in waiting. Many designers had stated that they would not dress the future first lady―including Tom Ford who said: “Whoever is the president, or the first lady, should be wearing clothes at a price point that are accessible to most Americans, and wearing clothes made in America. My clothes are made in Italy, they’re very, very expensive. I don’t think most women or men in our country can relate to that, and I think the first lady or the president should represent all people.” Michelle Obama was known to wear more affordable looks, much to what Tom was talking about- often mixing high end and affordable designers to create a more down to earth look.

Just for comparison, for Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration, Michelle Obama wore a yellow dress and coat by Cuban-American designer Isabel Toledo. This look was the first of many that set the tone that as a public figure, Michelle wanted to showcase emerging, multicultural designers who could benefit from well, the first lady wearing their clothes.

One thing is certain: everyone is happy that Melania at least wore an American designer for the inauguration. And she looked amazing. What do you think of Melania’s inauguration day outfit? Do you think she was copying Jackie O’s signature style- and finally, does Melania have what it takes to be a style icon in her own right?

  2. Sasha A says:

She is the most beautiful first lady she doesn't need to copies from any of past first lady to me no matter what she were she is gorgeous god bless her and Mr president trump and handsome son they have to gether

  3. She copies EVERYBODY. She has no thoughts or ideas of her own. Yes, she did copy Jackie Kennedy. You may try to dress like her but, you don't come close. She had class, that's something you will never have.

  4. monika w says:

Not even close! Mrs. Trump looks classy!

  5. Joanne says:

Honoring her style, and rocking the outfit. Beautiful!

  6. Melania AND Jackie l love

  7. There we see Melania was attacked from day 1. Why do you have to be so negative ,,copies another first lady"? Why can't be people just be satisfied how beautiful First Lady we had in the past 4 years? I would say she was the most beautiful First Lady in the history of the country

  8. Angel Simone says:

Jackie Kennedy was more classy than Melania ever would be

  9. The blue reminded me of JFK Jrs little blue coat at his father's funeral procession. It was a unique and beautiful blue. I loved her dress. I never related to Obama's clothing. It ran the gamut of weird, sloppy, to avant guard to inappropriate for her figure. Melania is so gracious and elegant.

  10. Misti Wyant says:

Well the color but , she knocked it out of the. ball field !

  11. joetxmex says:

NO resemblance. Jackie Kennedy is a trailblazer. She didnt have to pretend shes German nor changed her name. Jackie was Jackie from the get-go. She was knowledgeable and cultured. Melania Trump is just another never-heard model full of plastic and married to her lying grandpa.

  12. Adam R. Wyss says:

Jackie’s coat and hat were beige, not blue.

  13. goldenheart says:

The only resemblance Melania Trump and Jackie Kennedy had in common, was the color of their attire! 🙄 The nit picking is RIDICULOUS. Jackie was considered a fashion icon during that era also known for her pill box hats…..women were wearing them more because of it. My mother start wearing and had many of them after Jackie Kennedy. The two piece skirt and jacket with a pill box hat was classic and considered elegant then. Other companies jumped on the bandwagon and started rolling out the two piece chanel look without the high end price that looked fabulous! 🙂

  14. She’s gorgeous! Classiest First Lady ever! Fashion icon!

  15. Asmr Daisy says:

THE CABAL MUST FALL! THIS IS A SIGN, SO IS THE BLUE TIFFANY BOX!

  16. Cheryl Kehoe says:

Let’s see….how many magazines covers has Melania been on? ZERO! And Michele Obama – A LOT.. maybe just a little bias. Melania is gorgeous, gracious and the best First Lady ever. Her style is all her own. Think she has a staff of about 6-7. Michele had a staff of about 20. Go figure.

  17. Claire Smith says:

What You All Don't Realise is that She handed a Blue Box to Michelle and the Average Joe won't Put two and two Together that it's the Exact Same Blue Box used at JFK's Funeral…

    #QAnon #Q #Potus

  18. Mrs. Melania Trump copies no one. She has her own class, beauty, style. My Granny used to say: " comparison is odious! " She was right. Those who have eyes do see what a beautiful First Lady she is…

  19. Phuong Vo says:

Michelle Obama wore dress just looked like a drag queen .
The night Obama nominated ,Michelle wore the dress it did look like that she is representing for the communist country .
    She got the worst designer.
Too much color on her and she was the only First Lady who wore Short to stepping out the air force one 🤣

  20. With all respect! Melanie was not copying or inspired by Mrs Kennedy. There is absolutely no resemblance between them. Expect the colour! Big deal.

Plus you have to take into account that melania worked in the fashion industry and she is also a model. And has her own sense of taste. Why can't you just give the woman credit. She is absolutely classy and beautiful. The most beautiful first lady by far.

  21. SNAKEEYES44 says:

Malenia the most beautiful and gorgeous First Lady ever

  22. Xavier Alex says:

    I see no resemblance

  23. Jackie can't even begin to compare to Mrs Trump !!!!

  24. Most BEAUTIFUL First LADY in History.
